JAMES E. CASHMAN III is President and CEO of ANSYS, Inc., a
global innovator of simulation software and technologies aimed at
optimizing customers' product development processes. Mr.
Cashman's 30 years of expertise in the areas of financial,
operational and sales management has brought to prominence
numerous computer-aided design, product data management,
transaction processing and computer-aided engineering companies.
Mr. Cashman is a driving force behind ANSYS Inc.'s 'collaborative
engineering' strategy, which supports the implementation of a
virtual product development process. To that end, he has turned
the company's strategic focus toward an expanded product
portfolio, customer relationship management, building strategic
relationships with major accounts and business-to-business
partnerships in order to better serve the diverse needs of
analysts and design engineers throughout the world. This solid
investment in infrastructure, coupled with strategically aligned
acquisitions, has been the basis for five straight years of
quarterly growth and profitability. Before joining ANSYS Inc.,
Mr. Cashman was Vice President for International Operations,
Marketing and Software Development at PAR Technology Corporation.
Prior to that role, he held management positions at Structural
Dynamics Research Corporation in the areas of international
sales, major account development, and product management.
Programs under his direction resulted in strong development of
international markets, the formalization of the major account
programs, and the launching and revitalization of multiple
product lines. His efforts helped make SDRC one of the premier
CAD software suppliers, and resulted in his promotion to general
manager of the data management business unit. This led to his
appointment as Vice President of Product Development and
Marketing at Metaphase Technology, Inc.'a joint venture between
SDRC and Control Data Corporation. In that capacity, he
spearheaded the development and marketing of the PDM technology
that propelled Metaphase into a leading role in the engineering
marketplace. He holds BSME, MSME and MBA degrees from the
University of Cincinnati in Ohio. In addition to his duties as
ANSYS, Inc. President and CEO, he serves on the board of
directors for the company, as well as on the board of the
Pittsburgh Technology Council, and other technology companies. Profile
