JAMES W. BAGLEY, a 32-year veteran of the semiconductor industry, became
the CEO of Lam Research Corporation in August 1997 upon the completion
of the merger of Lam and OnTrak Systems, Inc. where he served as
Chairman of the Board and CEO. He began his professional career at Texas
Instruments in 1966 after earning Bachelor's and Master's degrees in
Electrical Engineering from Mississippi State University. After nearly
13 years at Texas Instruments, Mr. Bagley joined Applied Materials, Inc.
as the Senior Vice President. He led Applied Materials as President and
COO, and Vice Chairman of the Board and COO from 1987 to 1996, growing
the company from $175 million to almost $4 billion in annual revenue.
Mr. Bagley serves as a member of the Board of Directors for KLA-Tencor,
Kulicke & Soffa Industries, Teradyne, Micron Technology, Inc. and
Semi/SEMATECH. Profile

Mr. Bagley: Probably the most significant trend or development would
