JACQUELINE SHAN – CV TECHNOLOGIES INC (CVQ:TSX.V)

JACQUELINE SHAN is President, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Scientific Officer and co-Founder of CV Technologies Inc. and the co-discoverer of COLD-fX', an anti-cold, anti-flu product which clinical trials show reduces the risk of getting colds and flu. She formally assumed the position of CEO in 2003 and immediately began an aggressive commercialization program which resulted in a remarkable growth in sales, profitability and market cap. Today COLD-fX is found on pharmacy shelves in more than 4,000 retail outlets in Canada, including Wal-Mart and Costco. Dr. Shan is the architect of CVT's core strategy of using clinical trials and science to differentiate itself from the competition. At the age of 15, Dr. Shan entered university in China in pursuit of the first of two doctorates she has received. She was awarded a PhD with distinction in Physiology at the University of Alberta, Canada, in 1992, and a Doctor of Science in Pharmacology from Peking Union Medical College in 1993. She is recognized by universities in three countries (Adjunct Professor, University of Alberta; Distinguished Visiting Investigator, National Research Institute of Chinese Medicine in Taiwan; Visiting Professor, Peking Union Medical College/Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences; Visiting Associate Professor, University of Hong Kong). She has authored/co-authored 50 peer-reviewed scientific papers. Dr. Shan's doctoral training in pharmacology, physiology and in traditional Chinese medicine enables her to use modern medical research approaches to understanding traditional and natural medicine. Most of her research projects are focused on basic and clinical research, process and formulation development for nurtraceutical/natural health products. Dr. Shan entered industry in 1992 by co-founding two biotech companies ' CV Technologies Inc. (CVT) and Herb Tech Inc. both of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She has discovered/co-discovered 10 US and PCT patented products and led an in-house team of 25 scientists (13 PhDs, two MDs) with expertise in pharmacology, neurochemistry, immunology, process engineering, phytochemistry, analytical chemistry, western and traditional medicine. She has been instrumental in building CVT's extensive research collaborative programs with national and international academic and industrial research and development organizations.
