HUGH S. POTTS JR. was born in and has resided in Kosciusko,
Mississippi, all of his life. He was educated in the local public
schools and received his BA degree and his Juris Doctorate from
the University of Mississippi. He is also a graduate of the LSU
School of Banking and ABA's Stonier Graduate School of Banking,
Rutgers University. Since joining Merchants and Farmers Bank in
1972, Potts has served as a member of the Board of Directors and
an officer. He is presently Chairman and CEO of First M&F
Corporation, a one-bank holding company; Merchants and Farmers
Bank; and President of First M&F Insurance Company and M&F
Financial Services, Inc. In addition, Potts is a member of the
Board of Directors of IBAA. He is active in American Bankers
Association, the Mississippi Bankers Association, and is a member
of the Mississippi Bar Association. He serves on the executive
committee of BiPec, Mississippi Economic Council, and the Attala
economic Development Committee. He is an active member of First
Presbyterian Church, Kosciusko, and a member of the Board of
Trustees of French Camp Academy. Profile
