GWYN MORGAN, President and Chief Executive Officer of EnCana
Corporation, is responsible for establishing the vision and leadership
to achieve world-class performance. Prior to the merger he was President
and CEO of AEC, which he joined in 1975 during the startup of
operations. Under his leadership the company implemented a decentralized
business unit operating structure and fostered substantial growth in
asset base and share value. His career encompasses more than 30 years of
technical, operational, financial and management positions in oil and
gas exploration, production, marketing and pipelines. He serves as a
Director for HSBC Bank North America Inc., the Institute of the
Americas, the Canadian Council of Chief Executives and is a member of
the Accenture Energy Advisory Board. Other affiliations include being a
Governor of the Canadian Unity Council and a Trustee of the Fraser
Institute. Mr. Morgan is a Petroleum Engineering graduate of the
University of Alberta. He has post graduate qualifications, including
the Executive Business Program of Cornell University in New York State.
He is the recipient of the Canadian Business Leader Award from the
University of Alberta, the Ivey Business Leader Award from the
University of Western Ontario, the Strategic Leadership Forum
President's Award, honorary degrees from the University of Lethbridge
and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, and is an inductee to
the Alberta Business Hall of Fame. Past community activities include
membership on the Board of Management of the Calgary University Hospital
and Foundation and co-Chair of the Fundraising Committee for the
Northern Alberta Children's Health Centre, and co-Chair of The Governor
General's Canadian Leadership Conference. He is an Honorary Colonel
(retired) of the 410 Tactical Fighter Squadron, Canadian Air Force. Profile
