DR. GERHARD KASTELIC is President and CEO of Vienna Airport plc. He was
born in 1940, married with two children, a graduated lawyer, started his
career with the Vienna International Airport in 1965, became head of the
Legal Department shortly after and later on of the General
Administration Department. In 1978 he was nominated Executive Vice
President, in charge of the Commercial Division of Vienna International
Airport. The Development of an internationally well recognized marketing
policy to bring more air traffic through Vienna is to a large extent his
merit. His continuous work in international and national air traffic and
transport committees contributed to his recognition as an expert in
aviation. In January 1990, he was appointed President and CEO of Vienna
International Airport which was at that time in the ownership of the
Republic and the Federal Provinces of Vienna and Lower Austria and went
public very successfully in 1992. He is also Managing Director of the
real estate company (rental-and development), a subsidiary of Vienna
International Airport and Supervisory Board Member in Austro Control
Company. In recognition of his professional work he received several
honors of the Republic of Austria. To mention only a few of his
functions, Dr. Kastelic has been Chairman of the Association of Aviation
Enterprises in the Austrian Federal Chamber of Trade and Industry since
1990, in which capacity he represents the interests of Austrian Air
Transport enterprises with special respect to transport and employment
policies, he also is a permanent representative of Austria to the Air
Transport Commission in the International Chamber of Commerce '
headquartered in Paris. He is also an associate member of the Working
Group of German Airports and President of the Working Group of Austrian
