Gerald Perkel – Merant Plc (mrnt)

GERALD K. PERKEL is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Merant Plc, having joined the company on September 30, 2001. Merant is a leading global provider of software solutions to accelerate change with more than $120 million in revenue, approximately 600 employees and operations in 50 countries. With more than 20 year's experience in the high tech field, Mr. Perkel has a rich history of growing and driving public company business units to achieve new goals and benchmarks. Prior to joining Merant, Mr. Perkel was a Xerox corporate Senior Vice President and President of the Office Printing Business, being appointed in December 2000. In this role, he was responsible for leading integrated global business focused on driving Xerox' penetration into the network printing marketplace, where he was responsible for $3.5 billion of business and had been one of the key executives leading Xerox's turnaround. Prior to his appointment to SVP, he was Corporate Vice President of the Xerox Corporation and President of OPB, joining the company in January 2000 when Xerox acquired the Color Printing and Imaging Division of Tektronix, Inc. Before joining Xerox, he was President of the Tektronix Color Printing and Imaging Division. His efforts resulted in nearly doubling the business in a four-year period. Under his leadership, CPID captured over 50 of the computer industry's highest honors over the past few years. Mr. Perkel serves as a Director on the Board of Upright Systems, an Internet startup, and as a Board member for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
