GERALD K. DAVIES was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief
Operating Officer of the Kansas City Southern Railway based in
Kansas City, effective January 1, 1999. Mr. Davies has 32 years
of railroad industry experience and has served in various
marketing, operating and finance positions before coming to
Kansas City Southern Railway, including Executive Vice President
of Marketing for Canadian National Railway, Senior Vice President
of Marketing at Burlington Northern and Vice President -
Marketing Services at CSXT. Mr. Davies began his career in 1970
at the U.S. Department of Transportation. He has a Bachelor's
degree in Economics from Utah State and a Doctorate in Economics
