Geoffrey Burnham – Semiconductor Laser International Corporation (slic)

DR. GEOFFREY T. BURNHAM is Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Semiconductor Laser International Corporation (SLI). He is also President of Orthogenesis Technologies, LLC, a joint venture company of SLI, and President and Chairman of the Board for the Photonics Industry Association of New York (PIANY), a trade organization and not-for-profit company that is partially funded by New York State. Dr. Burnham founded SLI, a high-power semiconductor laser manufacturing company, in 1993, through negotiations with the US Air Force Wright Laboratory for a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA). Due to these negotiations, SLI was granted an exclusive license by the US Air Force for a patent to their technology in semiconductor lasers for a period of 10 years. Dr. Burnham has over 25 years of direct experience in the laser field with General Electric's Aerospace Business Group, Hercules Aerospace Company, General Optronics Corporation and Northeast Semiconductor. His particular areas of expertise include lasers, electro-optical and fiberoptic technology, power systems, and electronics. Furthermore, Dr. Burnham has served as Co-Chairman of the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE) Photonics West Diode Array Session since 1999; he is a member of SPIE, in addition to holding membership with the Laser & Electro-Optics Manufacturers' Association (LEOMA), and the Optical Society of America (OSA). Dr. Burnham is well recognized in the semiconductor laser community, as well as having several publications and patents to his credit.
