GEOFFREY ALLAN is President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the
Board of Insmed Incorporated. Dr. Allan brings over 20 years' experience
in drug research and development at both early-stage and mature
companies. He joined Insmed in 1994 as President and chief Technical
Officer. Since that time, he has restructured the company, built a
strong scientific, management and clinical organization, and raised more
than $120 million in equity. Prior to joining Insmed, Dr. Allan was Vice
President of Drug Development at Whitby Research, Inc., where he was
responsible for building and directing a development organization that
managed a broad portfolio of drug development candidates. From 1980 to
1987, Dr. Allan was head of the Cardiovascular Research Section at the
Wellcome Research Laboratories, where he led the development of the
Cardiovascular Research Group, and ultimately created an extensive
portfolio of drug discovery candidates. Dr. Allan holds several patents
and has been published extensively in cardiovascular research and
therapeutic drug developments. He received his PhD in Pharmacology from
