DR. FREDERIC N. ESHELMAN has served as Chief Executive Officer and Vice
Chairman of the Board of Pharmaceutical Product Development, Inc. since
July 1990. Prior to 1990, he held positions as Senior Vice President of
Development and Vice President of Clinical Operations for the former
Glaxo Inc., a subsidiary of Glaxo Holdings Plc. He has also served in
clinical research management positions for Boehringer-Mannheim
Corporation, Glaxo Inc., and Beecham Laboratories. Dr. Eshelman received
his Doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of Cincinnati. He is a
graduate of the three-year Owner President Management (OPM) business
course at Harvard Business School. He did his clinical pharmacy
residency at Cincinnati General Hospital with a rotation to Cincinnati
VA Hospital. His Bachelor's degree in Science (Pharmacy) is from the
