Fred Turok – La Fitness Plc (lfs.l)

FRED TUROK, LA Fitness' Chief Executive commenced his career as a Physical Education Department Head in 1980. Five years later in 1985, Mr Turok joined the David Lloyd Sports Club in Croydon which was subsequently renamed The Surrey Tennis and Country Club. He was responsible for building, developing and operating the club. In 1990 he left to set up the Westminster Leisure Partnership with Jeremy Taylor (now LA Fitness' Operations Director), after acquiring the Westminster Health Club in Victoria and Body & Soul in Kingston. In 1994, he merged his operation with David Turner, transforming the Caf Sport squash club in the City into a profitable health and fitness club. Following the acquisition of the original LA Fitness club in Isleworth, the combined operation was subsequently rebranded LA Fitness.
