DR CHRIS ROWLAND is Global Head of Utilities Research, leading a team of
eight professionals in Europe and seven professionals outside Europe. He
joined DrKB in summer 2000, from Merrill Lynch where he co-headed the
European utilities research. At Merrill Lynch, he initiated European
utility research and led the team to top ranking in all the external
surveys (first place in Institutional Investor 2000 and in Extel 1999,
and second place in Reuters 1999). Apart from being appreciated by
investors for identifying the key sector drivers, Chris has worked
closely on a number of primary assignments. Most recently, he led the
marketing of Enel, which was brought to the market in expanded size and
at the top of the indicated pricing range. He has also advised several
utilities on their strategic direction ahead of making transforming
transactions. Chris has a Doctorate in Economics from the University of
Surrey for his work on the economics of UK oil taxation, holds a MSc in
Economics awarded by the University of London, and a BSc in Economics
from the University of Bath. Prior to joining Merrill Lunch, he was with
BZW, where he was top rated both for his equity research into UK
utilities and into UK oil and gas companies. He has worked as a
University lecturer and spent a year starting up an alternative
