EDMUND D. LUDWIG, with almost three decades of senior management
experience at Optelecom, Inc., has served at various times as the
company's Chief Technologist, Executive Vice President,
President, Chief Executive Officer, and as a Director. An
Optelecom employee since 1974, he spearheaded the business unit
that developed and supported Optelecom's highly successful
'GLINT' laser illuminator system deployed on the C-130 Spectre
Gunship, and also led the team that received the 1990 'Small
Business Subcontractor of the Year' award from Rockwell
International. He was instrumental in efforts leading to
Optelecom's 1996 certification as an ISO-9001 company and has, at
different times in his career, managed all of the operational
groups within the company. Since mid-2001, under his leadership,
a revitalized Optelecom management team has delivered
continuously profitable results, leading to a greatly improved
financial position for the company. Recently, he has used his
extensive knowledge of the technical and business issues
associated with the fiber optic communication equipment industry
to position Optelecom in niche markets that are expected to enjoy
sustained growth in the next several years. Prior to Optelecom,
Mr. Ludwig was employed at IBM Corporation as a development
engineer-manager in its Federal Systems Division. Profile
