DUNCAN J. MACINTYRE is President and Chief Executive Officer of NIR
Diagnostics Inc. NIR is a publicly traded Canadian company specializing
in the development and licensing of in vitro and in vivo near infrared-
based medical diagnostic technology. Prior to joining NIR, Mr. MacIntyre
served as President and CEO of ICI Explosives in Canada and Latin
America. He led the restructuring, enhanced revenue generation, and
eventual sale of this international mining division of ICI (formerly CIL
in Canada) which employed 3,000 people in three-world scale
manufacturing facilities and sixty sales offices. Mr. MacIntyre began
his business career with The Monsanto Company in 1979 and over a 15-year
period earned advanced management roles in numerous international
technology-based businesses. His tenure with Monsanto Inc. included his
appointment in 1995 as Senior Vice President International of the
NutraSweet Company. Based in Chicago, he led the successful market
introduction and share penetration of this global brand sweetener in
Canada, Europe, China and Latin America, generating profits in all world
areas for the first time in company history. Earlier, while Vice
President and General Manager of the Monsanto Chemical Company in
Canada, at the invitation of the Government of Canada in 1993, Mr.
MacIntyre was appointed to a two year secondment as the founding
President and CEO of Canada's National Quality Institute. Mr. MacIntyre
has a track record of success in large scale international business as
well as with smaller domestic enterprises. Most recently, during the
period 1999 thru 2004, while CEO of NIR Diagnostics Inc., Mr. MacIntyre
served as a senior partner and non-executive Chairman of a small
privately held Toronto-based marketing and communications company which
featured such clients as The Salk Institute in California, and Faster
Cures, Washington. Mr. MacIntyre is the former Chairman of the Advisory
Board on Quality to the President of the Federal Treasury Board of the
Government of Canada and has been actively involved in various
provincial and federal trade policy committees. He has served on the
Board of Directors of both St. Francis Xavier University and The
University of Cape Breton. Mr. MacIntyre graduated with a Bachelor of
Science degree from St. Francis Xavier in 1977 and an MBA from St.
