DOUGLAS C. LANE is the President and Chief Executive Officer of ViaLogy,
Corp. in Altadena, California. Mr. Lane has academic and professional
training in the life sciences as well as extensive international
business experience. He began his business career at SmithKline Beecham
Corporation where he performed Mergers and Acquisitions for SmithKline
Beecham Clinical Laboratories. He later joined SmithKline Beecham
Pharmaceutical's Research and Development organization where he managed
the company's many gene discovery business initiatives, including the
joint venture with Human Genome Sciences and The Institute for Genomic
Research. Mr. Lane later joined Hyseq Corporation in California's
Silicon Valley as Vice President of Corporate Development and shaped the
company's successful public offering. He worked with financier Michael
Milken at CaP CURE where he managed the company's prostate cancer gene
discovery initiatives. Mr. Lane has particular interest and expertise in
genomics and drug discovery, specifically in the development and
commercialization of platform technologies that strategically accelerate
drug discovery and development. Prior to his business career Mr. Lane
was a successful athlete. He attended the University of Southern
California where he attained national and international recognition in
track and field. He has degrees in Psychology from USC, Microbiology and
Biochemistry from California State University Chico, and an MBA in
Finance from Golden Gate University in San Francisco. Profile
