DONALD E. MOREL JR. began his career at West Pharmaceutical
Services, Inc., in 1992 and in May 2002 was appointed Chief
Executive Officer and President. In March 2002, Dr. Morel was
elected to the company's Board of Directors and prior to this had
held a number of key executive positions within the company. From
May 2001 to April 2002, Dr. Morel served as West's President and
Chief Operating Officer. In 1999, Dr. Morel was appointed
Division President, Drug Delivery Systems where he was
responsible for commercializing the company's proprietary drug
delivery technology portfolio. Dr. Morel also served West as
Group President of the Device Development/Contract Packaging
business segments from March 1998 through September 1999,
following positions within the company as Vice President,
Scientific Services, responsible for global research and
development activities. Dr. Morel has authored or co-authored
over 30 publications dealing with environmental effects on
materials, polymer mechanical behavior and electron microscopy of
organic materials. He currently holds a seat on the editorial
board of The Journal of Materials Engineering and is a member of
the Society for Biomaterials, the Controlled Release Society, the
Parenteral Drug Association, and the Materials Research Society.
Dr. Morel's research in advanced materials has been supported by
The National Science Foundation, NASA, the Office of Naval
Research, The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)
and private industry. Dr. Morel holds a BS in Materials
Engineering from Lafayette College and an MS and a PhD in
Materials Science from Cornell University with a minor in
Veterinary Medicine. Profile
