DIRK BARTELS is Chief Executive Officer of Poet Software, a fully owned
subsidiary of Poet Holdings, Inc., USA. Mr. Bartels has been programming
for over 20 years and formed the idea for Poet Software in the late
1980s when using object oriented programming while working with
groupware applications. This work triggered the creation of the Poet
database, Poet Software's flagship product. Mr. Bartels is the co-
Founder of Poet Holdings and has held many positions within the company
since 1995 including President and Chief Executive Officer, General
Manager of Poet Software's subsidiary Poet Software GmbH, Director of
Poet Operations and Chairman of the Board. Poet Software is Mr. Bartels'
second company he has successfully started and run since he received his
Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the Technical
