DR DIETMAR LEY is the Chief Executive Officer of Basler AG. From 1983
to 1988, Dr Ley studied Electrical Engineering at GH-Siegen University,
and holds a PhD in Digital Image Processing and Optical Metrology from
the Centre for Sensor systems - ZESS - of GH-Siegen University. Dr Ley
started his career as a Software Developer at Philips GmbH, in Siegen.
He then joined the R&D Optical Telecommunications department of Siemens
AG in Munich, and subsequently the R&D Optical Telecommunications
department of Alcatel AG in Stuttgart. In 1989, he became Head of the
Research Group Image Processing at ZESS in Siegen. In 1993, he joined
Basler AG in System Development, became Head of Development Projects,
Head of R&D, Member of the Board and eventually, Chief Executive
Officer. Dr Ley is married and has two children. Profile
