Dennis Orwig – Encorp Inc

DENNIS A. ORWIG, Chief Executive Officer of Encorp, Inc. since 2001, has an extensive track record of building companies into profitable, industry-leading organizations. Mr. Orwig's primary focus is to move Encorp into new market segments and leverage the company's advanced technologies in pursuit of new strategic opportunities. A 24-year veteran of the power industry, Mr. Orwig most recently served as President and CEO of California-based Catalytica Energy Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CESI), a 150-employee company that manufactures pollution- prevention equipment. Mr. Orwig oversaw the startup of Catalytica and led the business through four years of rapid growth. Under his leadership, the company successfully launched an IPO and additional new- product developments. Mr. Orwig also initiated strategic alliances with General Electric, Enron, Pratt-Whitney Canada and Kawasaki, among others, which allowed Catalytica to raise $80 million for technology research and development programs. From 1993 until 1996, Mr. Orwig was part of a three-person team in the Office of the President of Elliott Company, a 100-year-old privately owned manufacturer of large-scale capital equipment for the petrochemical, transportation and power industries. Mr. Orwig oversaw worldwide service operations and corporate strategic planning. In 1996 Elliott was sold to a public Japanese company. For eight years, Mr. Orwig served in executive management positions at Asea Brown Boveri, Ltd. From 1991 to 1993, he was President and CEO of the Gas & Steam Turbine Business Division, which generated annual revenues of $560 million. As President of ABB U.S.S.R. Business Development, Inc., from 1989 to 1991, he was responsible for initiating and building the first five ABB businesses within Russia. Mr. Orwig holds a Master's of Business Administration degree in International General Management from Duke University and two Bachelor of Science degrees, one in Applied Science and one in Paper Chemistry from Miami University in Ohio.
