DAVID C. PETERSCHMIDT is Chairman of the Board, President and CEO of
Inktomi Corporation. Mr. Peterschmidt has built Inktomi from a start-up
to the world's leader in Internet infrastructure software with customers
and partners including America Online, Microsoft, Yahoo!, Sun
Microsystems and British Telecommunications. Mr. Peterschmidt was
recently dubbed 'Inktomi's Messiah' in Forbes and named as one of
Business Week's 'Most Influential People in Electronic Business.' Before
joining Inktomi, Mr. Peterschmidt was Executive Vice President and Chief
Operating Officer of Sybase Inc., where he directed the company's growth
from US $104 million to nearly US $1 billion in annual sales over a
five-year period. Prior to Sybase, Mr. Peterschmidt was a senior
consultant with the Kappa group and Vice President of Sales and
Marketing at Systems Industries. Mr. Peterschmidt is a member of the
Board of Directors of the Special Olympics of Northern California,
Campus Pipeline and Portal Software. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree
in Political Science from the University of Missouri and a Master's
