David Leavy – Discovery Communications Inc

DAVID C. LEAVY is Senior Vice President for Corporate Affairs and Communications at Discovery Communications Inc., located in Bethesda, Maryland. He is responsible for all press, communications, investor relations, global public affairs, speechwriting and corporate events for the parent company of the Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, TLC, Travel Channel and 33 networks around the world. Most recently, Mr. Leavy served as Senior Director of Public Affairs and Chief Spokesman for the National Security Council and Deputy White House Press Secretary for Foreign Affairs. In that position, Mr. Leavy chaired the Interagency Public Affairs Working Group that coordinated the Clinton Administration's long rang strategic message on foreign and international policy. Mr. Leavy developed the communications and press strategies for NATO's military action in Kosovo, the State Visit of Chinese President Jiang Zemin and the Senate's ratification of the Chemical Weapons Convention. Mr. Leavy previously served as Assistant Press Secretary at the State Department and the White House Press Office. He graduated from Colby College and originates from Westport, Connecticut. Profile
