David Carter – Xenogen Corporation

DAVID W. CARTER is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Xenogen Corporation. Prior to joining Xenogen, Mr. Carter was Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Somatix Corporation, a publicly held gene therapy company. In this capacity he completed a number of public and private financings, corporate partnerships and acquisitions. The most recent of these activities was the successful merger of Somatix with Cell Genesys into a gene therapy powerhouse with a market cap of over $500 million. Mr. Carter has held executive management positions at several other companies including: President and Chief Operating Officer of Northfield Laboratories, a company involved in developing a hemoglobin substitute; Executive Vice President of Sybron Corporation, a $650 million life science corporation; and Group President with American Hospital Supply Corporation.
