DARYL R. FORSYTHE was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of
NBT Bancorp Inc., and NBT Bank, National Association, on January 1,
1995. He had been a director of NBT Bank (previously known as The
National Bank and Trust Company) since 1988, and of the parent company,
NBT Bancorp Inc. since 1992. Previously he had been General Manager of
the BF Goodrich Aerospace Engine Electrical Systems Division, in
Norwich, New York, since 1987. Daryl was born in Oneonta, New York, but
at a young age moved to Clinton, New York, a suburb of Utica. Later the
family moved to nearby Vernon Center, New York. He attended college in
Utica, at Utica College of Syracuse University, and in 1965 earned a
degree in Industrial Management. In 1979, Daryl earned an MBA degree in
General Management from Syracuse University. He also completed the
Executive Management Course offered by Yale University. After a brief
tenure working for Revere Copper and Brass in Rome, NY, Daryl accepted a
position at the Bendix Corporation in Sidney, New York, where he held
several position in management in both manufacturing and in quality
control. In 1984, he accepted a position with Simmonds Precision in
Norwich as Vice President of Operations. In 1987, he was named General
Manager for the division which at one time included more than 900
employees in four locations two plants in Norwich, one in California and
one in New Jersey. Daryl is active in the community, serving as a
former trustee of The Hospital, in Sidney; a trustee of the State
University College at Oneonta and a trustee of Syracuse University; and
a director of Security Mutual Insurance Company of New York, Inc. Daryl
