Charles R. Cumello joined Factory Card Outlet in April 1995 as its
President and Chief Operating Officer. He was made President and Chief
Executive Officer on October 1, 1995. Before joining Factory Card
Outlet, Mr. Cumello was with Waldenbooks (a $1 billion, 1,100-store
chain) for fifteen years. From 1991 through 1994, he was President and
Chief Executive Officer. From 1986 to 1991, he was President of the
Readers Market Division which was responsible for the book department in
all Kmart stores. Prior to that, he served as Executive Vice President
and Chief Financial Officer of Waldenbooks. Earlier experience was with
the Melville Corp. for 10 years in financial positions in three
