CARROL R. PRUETT began his banking career in 1959 with California
Republic Bank in Bakersfield following his graduation from Cal Poly, San
Luis Obispo, with a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture. In 1961, Mr.
Pruett was asked to assist in the formation of Mid-State bank, the first
new bank charter in San Luis Obispo County in more than 35 years. In
1967, he became President and Director of the bank. In his years as
President of Mid-State Bank, Mr. Pruett has served as Chairman of the
Board for the California Intermediate Banking School and is a past
President of the California Bankers Association, which is the largest
banking trade association in the United States. Mr. Pruett has served
three terms on the California Bankers Association Board of Directors and
has also been active in the American Bankers Association as a member of
the Community Banker Council and the Education and Policy Development
Council. Mr. Pruett has also served as a trustee of the Pacific Coast
Banking School at the University of Washington, as a Director of the
Independent Bankers Association of Southern California, and a Board
member of the Western States BankCard Association. Profile
