Carl English – Cms Energy Corporation (cms)

CARL L. ENGLISH is President and Chief Executive Officer of CMS Energy-Gas. His career with Consumers Energy spans three decades. He became President and Chief Executive Officer of the utility's gas strategic business unit on Oct. 1, 1999, and is responsible for all aspects of the utility's gas business, including managing gas operations, gas supply, gas transmission and customer service. Before taking control of the gas operations, Mr. English was Consumers Energy's Vice President of Electric Transmission and Distribution, a position he assumed in 1996. In that post, he managed the utility's statewide electric transmission and distribution, and customer service activities. Mr. English was named Vice President of Gas Operations and Customer Services in 1990, with a change in 1991 to Vice President, Energy Distribution Services. He became Vice President, Electric Distribution in 1994. He joined Consumers Energy in 1969 and has held a progression of increasingly responsible customer service and general service positions, mainly at the corporate headquarters in Jackson. In 1975, he served as Customer Services Superintendent in Kalamazoo and returned to Jackson in 1976 to become Staff Assistant to the Chairman of the Board. In 1989, he was appointed Executive Manager of Customer Services. Mr. English earned an Associates degree from Jackson Community College. He went on to Michigan State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering in 1968 and a Master's degree in Business Administration in 1969. Profile
