Candace Kendle Bryan – Kendle International Inc (kndl)

DR. CANDACE K. BRYAN, co-founded Kendle in 1981 with her husband and business partner, Christopher Bergen. Kendle is an international contract research organization that provides pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies with quality clinical development services to accelerate the drug development process. As CEO of Kendle, Dr. Bryan's strategic direction has helped establish the company as a global leader in the clinical development industry. In 1997, she successfully guided the company through its initial public offering on The NASDAQ Stock Market. The organization also became international with the acquisition of two European contract research organizations ('CROs') and a U.S. based CRO with interests in the Pacific Rim. Prior to founding Kendle, Dr. Bryan held a number of academic positions, including adjunct associate professor at the School of Pharmacy, University of Cincinnati from 1982-1984; and clinical associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania from 1979-1981. Dr. Bryan received her doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Cincinnati and her Epidemiology Fellowship at the University of North Carolina School of Public Health. Dr. Bryan has published more that 15 scientific articles. Dr. Bryan and her organization have been recognized for their contributions to the community. She was recently selected as a 1998 YWCA Career Woman of Achievement which recognizes women who are performing at an outstanding level in their profession. In 1997 she received Ohio's Rosabeth Moss Kanter Excellence in Enterprise Award and the 1996 Emerging Business Award from The Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Bryan is active in numerous business and community organizations. She was recently elected as a director of the H.J. Heinz Company. She currently serves as director of the Southwestern Ohio Chapter of the March of Dimes, the Advisory Board of the University of Cincinnati College of Business Administration, the Overture Awards, and as a member of the Committee of 200 and the Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Center Capital Campaign Cabinet.
