Bruce Schwenger – Harrisdirect

BRUCE S. SCHWENGER is head of Global Direct Investing for BMO Private Client Group. As such, he serves as President and CEO of Harrisdirect and CEO of BMO Financial Group's Canadian direct investing firm, BMO InvestorLine. Mr. Schwenger is responsible for guiding overall strategic direction and managing execution in the delivery of all direct investing products and services throughout North America. Under Mr. Schwenger's direction, Harrisdirect and BMO InvestorLine have earned numerous industry accolades, including top rankings in Barron's, Gomez, Forbes.com and SmartMoney, and in Canada from Quicken, Gomez, and The Globe and Mail, among others. Mr. Schwenger has been with the BMO organization for over 20 years. He spent 13 years in sales management with BMO's full-service investment firm, BMO Nesbitt Burns before joining BMO InvestorLine in 1995. In 1998, Mr. Schwenger was appointed Director of Harris Investors Direct (HID), the organization's direct brokerage offering. In 2000, he assumed responsibility for the newly formed Harris InvestorLine; a merger of HID, Chicago-based Burke Christensen & Lewis and Seattle-based Freeman Welwood. Mr. Schwenger began his career in financial services and investments with Pitfield Mackay Ross, where he served eight years as a financial advisor to retail clients.
