BRUCE A. QUINNELL is Vice Chairman of Borders Group Inc. with corporate
headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Mr. Quinnell has overall
responsibility for planning, administration, investor relations and
international operations. Prior to this position, Mr. Quinnell served as
President and COO of Borders Group and its companies, Borders, Inc. and
Waldenbooks from February 1997 until April 1999. Mr. Quinnell held
previous positions with Waldenbooks as President and Chief Operating
Officer and as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr.
Quinnell has been in his current position since April 1999. Prior to
joining Waldenbooks, Mr. Quinnell was Executive Vice President, Finance
and Administration at PACE Membership Warehouse, Inc. Mr. Quinnell, a
CPA, has held various financial positions with Dollar General and VHA
Enterprises. He started his career with the accounting firm of Ernst &
Young. Mr. Quinnell is a member of Reading is Fundamental, Inc. National
Advisory Council since 1996 and is serving as Chairman in 1999. Mr.
Quinnell is a member of the Board of Directors for Hot Topic, Inc. Mr.
Quinnell received both his undergraduate and Master's Degree in
Accounting from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University

Mr. Quinnell: The Company started as two different companies, Borders
and Waldenbooks. Borders dates back to 1971 and
