BOB R. SIMPSON is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and one of the
three Co-Founders of Cross Timbers Oil Company of Fort Worth, Texas. He
was named to the additional office of Chairman effective July 1, 1996 at
the retirement of Jon Brumley. Mr. Simpson, a Director of the firm since
1990, had been Vice Chairman and CEO or held similar positions with the
company and its predecessors since 1986. The oil-and-gas acquisition,
exploitation and development company has properties concentrated in
Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, New Mexico, Wyoming, Arkansas and Alaska. Cross
Timbers, formed to acquire producing oil and gas properties through
limited partnerships, has purchased more than $1.1 billion in producing
properties and formed three public entities: Cross Timbers Royalty
Trust, Hugoton Royalty Trust and Cross Timbers Oil, which went public in
May 1993. Mr. Simpson was Vice President Finance and Corporate
Development at Southland Royalty Company (1979-86) and Tax Manager
(1976-79). Prior to joining the firm, he was in the bank auditing and
tax departments of the accounting firm of Arthur Andersen. He attended
Baylor University on a bank scholarship and worked for Merrill Lynch
while getting his education. He changed his major from Finance to
Accounting and earned a Bachelor of Science degree (1970) and an MBA
(1971). Mr. Simpson served in the Texas Army National Guard after
graduation and then earned his CPA designation. He is married with five
