Bernd Seizinger – Gpc Biotech Ag (585150.be)

DR BERND R SEIZINGER, MD, PhD is the President & Chief Executive Officer of GPC Biotech. He joined GPC Biotech in 1998, having previously held the post of Executive Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer at Genome Therapeutics Corporation (Waltham/Boston, USA). While at Genome Therapeutics, he was instrumental in establishing numerous genomics and drug discovery collaborations. From 1992 to 1996, Dr Seizinger was Vice President of Oncology at Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharmaceutical Research Institute in Princeton, NJ. In parallel, from 1994 through 1996, he also held the position of Vice President of Corporate and Academic Alliances. Prior to his corporate career, from 1984 to 1992, Dr Seizinger was at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, eventually holding the positions of Associate Professor of Neuroscience at Harvard Medical School and Director of the Molecular Neuro-Oncology Laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was awarded his MD from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University and his PhD from the Max Planck- Institute for Psychiatry, both in Munich. Dr Seizinger is the recipient of a number of scientific awards and has authored over one hundred publications. He retains his visiting professorship at the Department of Molecular Biology at Princeton University and serves on the Supervisory Board of Byk Gulden, the pharmaceutical subsidiary of Altana AG, (Bad Homburg, Germany).
