Bassil Dahiyat – Xencor

BASSIL DAHIYAT, is co-Founder, President and CEO of Xencor as well as co-inventor of the PDA_ technology. He has been CEO since the incorporation of the company in August 1997. Dr. Dahiyat raised Xencor's financing, executed exclusive license agreements with Caltech for the Protein Design Automation_ technology and Johns Hopkins for the ProCode_ technology, established company facilities and staffing and conceived and implemented Xencor's research and development program. Dr. Dahiyat manages the company's research activities as CSO and directs an aggressive patent strategy for Xencor's technology platform and proprietary proteins. Dr. Dahiyat holds a PhD in Chemistry from Caltech and BS and MSE degrees in Biomedical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Dahiyat has co-authored numerous scientific papers in the fields of protein design and drug delivery and has received scientific awards from the American Chemical Society, the Controlled Release Society, the Protein Society, and Caltech.
