Zafiris G. Zafirelis

ZAFIRIS G. ZAFIRELIS was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer
of Biopure Corporation and a member of the Board of Directors in June
2004. He was formerly CEO of MedQuest Products, Inc., a pioneering
developer of implantable ventricular assist devices. He also previously
served as CEO of CardiacAssist, Inc., and, for four years prior to
Biopure’s initial public offering, as Director of Product Applications
at Biopure.
