William R. Cordes

WILLIAM R. CORDES is President of Northern Plains Natural Gas Company,
the Operator of Northern Border Pipeline Company, and Chairman of the
Management Committee of Northern Border Pipeline Company. Mr. Cordes is
also the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Partnership Policy
Committee of Northern Border Partners, L.P. Northern Border Partners,
L.P., through its subsidiaries also holds interests in entities that own
gathering facilities in the Powder River and Wind River Basins in
Wyoming. In addition, Northern Border Partners, L.P., owns the Black
Mesa Pipeline. Mr. Cordes began his career with Northern Natural Gas
Company in 1970 in Operations Accounting. In 1971, he took an Accounting
position at Peoples Natural Gas, formerly a division of Enron (now a
UtiliCorp company). He was named Peoples’ General Manager of Regulatory
Affairs in 1977 after serving as Controller. Mr. Cordes was involved in
the rates and regulatory affairs departments of a number of Enron’s
pipelines, including Transwestern Pipeline Company, Florida Gas
Transmission Company and Northern Natural Gas Company from 1986 to 1990.
Mr. Cordes was then named Vice President of Regulatory Affairs at
Northern Natural in 1990, which included responsibilities for rates and
tariff and certificates. In 1992, he was named Vice President of
Regulatory Affairs and Financial Analysis, which included the additional
responsibilities for financial planning, economic and business
development, systems and state government affairs. Mr. Cordes was named
President of Northern Natural Gas Company in June 1993 and added the
position of President of Transwestern Pipeline in May 1996. Mr. Cordes
was named President of Northern Plains Natural Gas Company in October
2000. He is a graduate of the University of Nebraska with a degree in
Business Administration.
