W. Roger Haughton

W. ROGER HAUGHTON is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The PMI
Group, Inc. He brings more than 30 years of experience in underwriting
and insurance operations to his position. He came to PMI in 1985 as Vice
President of Underwriting, after 16 years with Allstate Insurance
Company. In 1987, he was promoted to Vice President/General Manager for
PMI’s Central Zone, responsible for all sales and field office
operations in that region. In 1989, he became Group Vice President of
Insurance Operations, where he assumed responsibility for management of
PMI’s Administration, Systems, Underwriting, Claims and Actuarial
Services departments. He was appointed President and CEO in 1993, and
was elected Chairman in 1998. A graduate of the University of California
at Santa Barbara, Mr. Haughton holds a BA in Economics. He is a member
of the Executive Committee and in 1997, was elected President of the
Mortgage Insurance Companies of America (MICA), the industry trade
association. Mr. Haughton has served on the Fannie Mae National Advisory
Council and has a long history of active volunteerism with various
affordable housing organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, and
serves as Chairman of the Board of Social Compact.
