T. S. Sudarshan

T.S. SUDARSHAN co-founded Materials Modification Inc. in 1986 and
served as its Technical Director from 1986-1997. In 1998, he took
over as Vice President and has been President and CEO since 2002.
He received his PhD from Virginia Tech in 1984 and has been
active in the area of surface engineering and nanomaterials. He
has published over 125 technical peer reviewed papers, co-edited
over 18 books on surface modification technologies and is the
holder of seven US patents. He was a member of the team that
received two R&D 100 awards and two Design News awards for the
Microwave Plasma Chemical Synthesis and the Plasma Pressure
Compaction techniques developed at MMI. He serves on numerous
evaluation committees and advisory panels for government
agencies. Dr. Sudarshan is a member of the National Materials
Advisory Board, co-editor of two archival journals ‘ Surface
Engineering and Materials and Manufacturing Processes ‘ Fellow of
ASM International, Fellow of International Federation of Heat
Treatment and Surface Engineering and recipient of the
Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer award.
