Steven J. Douglass

STEVEN J. DOUGLASS joined Payless ShoeSource in 1993 as Senior Vice
President of Retail Operations. He was promoted to Executive Vice
President of Retail Operations in 1995 and was named Chairman and CEO
that same year. Prior to joining Payless, Douglass held several
positions of increasing importance with the May Department Stores
Company spanning 17 years including: Vice President of Reporting and
Analysis, Senior Vice President of Planning and Reporting, Senior Vice
President and Chief Financial Officer of Robinson’s Department Store,
and Chairman of O’Neil’s Department Store. He served as Chairman of May
Company of Ohio before joining Payless. He received a bachelor’s degree
in accounting from Marquette University in 1971. He received his M.B.A.
degree in finance from the University of Detroit in 1974.
