ROGER L. KOENIG is CEO and Founder of Carrier Access Corporation, a
communications equipment manufacturer that helps more than 1,800
telecommunications companies accelerate service revenue, lower operating
costs and extend capital budgets. Mr. Koenig is also the Chairman of the
Board of Directors, and in 1998 led Carrier Access through a successful
public stock offering. From 1997-1999, the company experienced a 268%
growth rate in profits and from 1992-2000 corporate revenues grew to
$148 million. With over 25 years of experience, Mr. Koenig is a leader
in the communications and electronic equipment industries, winning
respect and praise for his expertise in business leadership, executive
management, product development and building successful companies. He
has won many awards, including the 1998 Esprit Entrepreneur of the Year,
the 1999 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year, and a seventh place
ranking among the 200 Best Small Companies in the October 2000 issue of
Forbes magazine. In 1987, prior to leading Carrier Access, Mr. Koenig
founded Koenig Communications, a value-added reseller, offering packaged
solutions of T1 voice and data equipment. Mr. Koenig also was an
independent consultant in wide area networking and international
marketing for equipment manufacturers and users, prior to founding
Carrier Access. Mr. Koenig’s career in the communications industry began
in 1978, when he joined ROLM Corporation, a telephone equipment
manufacturer, as a Design Engineer. While working for ROLM, Mr. Koenig
held a number of engineering and engineering management positions,
including Section Manager of Private Branch Exchange (PBX) development
for ROLM and IBM Europe. Mr. Koenig has a Master’s degree in Science in
Engineering Management from Stanford University and a Bachelor’s degree
in Electrical Engineering.
