Richard D. Kurtz

RICHARD D. KURTZ was elected Chairman of the Board of Advanced Photonix in July
2000. He was appointed Chief Executive Officer in February 2003 and became
President in 2006. Mr. Kurtz previously served as Director of Strategic Planning
for Quantum Compliance Systems, a privately owned software company, and as Vice
President of Sales and Marketing for Filtertek Inc., an ESCO Technologies
company. He also has held sales and marketing positions at other electronics,
automation and high-tech companies. Mr. Kurtz received a B.A. in economics from
Michigan State University in 1976 and an MBA from Eastern Michigan University in
1980.
