RALPH A. KORPMAN, MD is President and Chief Executive Officer of
HealthTrio, Inc., the company he co-founded with Malik M. Hasan, MD in
August 1999. He is responsible for all aspects of the Company’s
continued growth and daily operations, including: key hires; corporate
strategy; major sales; and relations with the medical and financial
communities. Prior to leading HealthTrio, Dr. Korpman held dual
positions as Chairman and CEO of Health Data Sciences Corporation and as
Chief Scientist of Medaphis Corporation and Per-Se Technologies. Since
his youth, Dr. Korpman has been involved with various aspects of
technology and medicine, holding a variety of programming, analysis and
systems management positions with a focus on insurance services, records
management and medical information management. In 1976, Dr. Korpman
founded Medical Data Corporation, which developed a variety of turnkey
information systems used in a number of hospitals and U.S. government
facilities throughout the country. Medical Data Corporation was acquired
by HBO & Company in 1981 and provided HBO with the basis for its most
successful clinical product line. After serving as Chief Scientist for
HBO & Company, Dr. Korpman founded Health Data Sciences Corporation in
San Bernardino, California in 1983 ‘ one of the first organizations
delivering a fully integrated patient care management information system
incorporating a complete electronic medical record. HDS was acquired by
Medaphis/Per-Se in 1996. Dr. Korpman received his Bachelor’s and M.D.
degrees from Loma Linda University, where he also completed residencies
in Anatomic Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and a fellowship in
Clinical Hematology. He attended the Claremont Graduate School where he
received a Certificate in Executive Management. He is certified as a
Physician Executive by the American College of Physician Executives,
from which he has also achieved the recognition of Distinguished
Fellowship. In addition to his corporate work in health care
informatics, Dr. Korpman is a full professor at both Loma Linda
University School of Medicine and the University of Tennessee and is a
widely published author. He is active in a number of professional
associations, including membership on editorial boards and directorships
of several trade and professional societies. Dr. Korpman has also helped
advise the U.S. government on federal health care policy relating to
health care information technology. In this capacity, he has helped to
organize and advise the American National Standards Institute Healthcare
Informatics Standards Board, the U.S. national standards coordinating
body for health care information, and ISO 215, the international
standards organization for health care informatics. Dr. Korpman is the
recipient of a number of awards, including Entrepreneur of the Year and
Health Care Pioneer. He is also committed to civic and community
affairs, serving on several college and not-for-profit foundation boards
of directors.
