Pravin Chaturvedi

PRAVIN CHATURVEDI is the founding President and Chief Executive Officer
of Scion Pharmaceuticals, Inc., an ion channel drug discovery and
development company located in the Greater Boston area. Dr. Chaturvedi
has over 16 years of pharmaceutical industry experience across drug
discovery, development, registration, corporate partnering and
commercialization. Prior to co-founding Scion, Dr. Chaturvedi was
responsible for lead evaluation for Vertex Pharmaceuticals in Cambridge,
Massachusetts, where he established the preclinical and clinical
pharmacology and toxicology departments, and pioneered the rational
integrated drug discovery and development approach resulting in the
discovery and development of numerous drug candidates. He is experienced
in registration strategies across US, Europe and Japan. Prior to Vertex,
Dr. Chaturvedi held scientific positions in drug development at Alkermes
Inc., in Cambridge Massachusetts, where he was engaged in developing
strategies to help molecules cross the blood-brain barrier and in the
development of prolonged release products for large molecular weight
proteins. Before joining Alkermes, he was in the Product Development
group at Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Research (now Pfizer) in Morris
Plains, New Jersey, where he developed drugs for treating epilepsy, pain
and cancer. Dr. Chaturvedi holds a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from
West Virginia University and a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the
University of Bombay.
