Peter Burke

PETER BURKE is Chief Technology Officer of Zarlink Semiconductor
Inc. He brings 29 years of high tech experience to progressively
senior positions in design management, marketing, and business
development within the communications industry. He was appointed
Chief Technology Officer of Zarlink Semiconductor in May 2001 and
is responsible for setting the company’s long-term strategic
technology direction. In 1997, Mr. Burke was named Vice President
of Product Marketing and Business Development for the company’s
semiconductor division. He joined the company in 1995 as Director
of Real Time Networking. Prior to that, he worked for 18 years in
progressively senior positions with Ottawa’s Gandalf
Technologies, which specialized in designing and manufacturing
data switches and modems. Mr. Burke serves on the Board of
Directors of Silicon Bridge Inc., a start-up based in San Jose,
California. He is also active in academia and government in
shaping pre-competitive research, and developing Canadian
microelectronics capabilities. He serves on the Boards of
Micronet; the Strategic Microelectronics Consortium; and is a
member of the Ottawa Semiconductor Initiative. He is a past Board
member of the Canadian Microelectronics Consortium. He holds an
Engineering degree (1973) from Carleton University in Ottawa, and
is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of
Ontario (APEO).
