Paul R. Gudonis

PAUL R. GUDONIS, Chairman and CEO of Genuity, Inc., has led Genuity
since 1994 and its inception as a part of BBN Corporation, the firm that
developed the precursor to today’s Internet. Since then, he has grown
the company from a regional network operator with $5 million in revenues
and 50 employees to a billion-dollar global Internet services firm with
more than 4,500 employees. Mr. Gudonis took the company public in June
2000, raising nearly $2 billion in the largest Internet IPO in the US.
He has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications and
information technology industries and began his career at AT&T and
Ameritech, where he launched the country’s first cellular phone service
as Vice President, Marketing, of Ameritech Mobile Communications. He
then served as a senior executive at several Boston-area startup
technology service companies, including Appex Corporation, which
developed nationwide roaming services for wireless users and provided IT
services to the wireless industry. After Appex was acquired by EDS
Corporation in 1990, Mr. Gudonis launched EDS’s Communications Industry
Group International Division and served as General Manager to provide
systems integration, development, and outsourcing services to media and
telecommunications firms globally. This division grew rapidly to serve
major customers in more than 20 countries worldwide. Mr. Gudonis is Vice
Chairman of The Massachusetts High-Tech Council and a member of the
Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Software and Internet Council.
He is also a founding member of the Global Internet Project, a group of
senior executives who promote policies to support the growth of the
Internet. Mr. Gudonis is a member of the Board of Directors of Boston
Communications Group Inc., which provides services to the wireless
industry. Mr. Gudonis holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from
Northwestern University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
