Oren G. Shaffer

OREN G. SHAFFER is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
of Ameritech, where he is responsible for all of the company’s financial
affairs. Before joining Ameritech in October, 1994, Mr. Shaffer was
president of Virgo Cap, Inc., an investment firm. From 1968 until 1992
when he co-founded Virgo Cap, Inc., he was executive vice president,
chief financial officer and director , of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber
Company. His Goodyear service spanned 25 years with 15 years of
international experience during which he held various senior executive
positions including that of chairman and chief executive officer of
Goodyear’s operations in France. Mr. Shaffer is a Director of Lyric
Opera of Chicago, Sunshine Mining and Refining, Taiwan Equity Fund and
Hygienic Corporation. He was awarded ‘Chevalier de L’Order de Merite’ by
French President Francios Mitterand. Mr. Shaffer earned his Bachelor of
Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley and his
Master of Science degreefrom Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He
and his wife, Evelyne, have two children and are residents of Chicago,
Illinois.
