Nicholas Jon Virca

NICHOLAS JON VIRCA is President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of
ADVENTRX Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Mr. Virca has served as President, CEO
and Director since October 2002. From 1997 to 2002, Mr. Virca served as
the President, CEO and Director of Biokeys, Inc. From 1991 to 1997 he
served as co-Founder and Vice President of Operations and Director of
Diametrix Detectors, Inc., a privately held immunosensor company which
was focused on the airborne vapor detection of narcotics using
monoclonal antibodies. Additionally, from 1994 to 1997, he served as
Business Unit Manager, Security Products, for Nicolet Imaging Systems, a
company that purchased substantially all of IRT’s assets in 1994. From
1991 to 1994, he served as Vice President, Business Operations of IRT
Corporation, a publicly held company that specialized in X-ray
inspection and imaging systems for industrial and security applications.
Earlier employment included key marketing and general management
positions with Fisher Scientific, where he headed Fisher’s Hematology
and Histology Divisions; Damon Biotech, where he was VP of Marketing for
Cell Culture and Diagnostic Divisions; Promega Corporation, as VP of
Marketing for Molecular Biology Systems and Reagents; the Ortho Division
of Johnson & Johnson, where he was Product Director for Immunology and
Cytology Systems; and the Ross Division of Abbott Laboratories as
Marketing Manager for Pediatric Pharmaceuticals. Mr. Virca has over 25
years of experience in the biomedical industry and has introduced over
50 products, including prescription and OTC pharmaceuticals,
biotherapeutic and diagnostic reagents, scientific and medical
instrumentation and immunodiagnostic sensors and imaging equipment. He
has extensive developmental experience in immunology, hematology and
biochemistry and is the co-inventor of a patented technology used to
package molecular biology reagents. Mr. Virca received a BA degree in
Biology from Youngstown State University.
