Michael S. McQuary

MICHAEL S. McQUARY is President of EarthLink, Inc. He works hand in hand
with CEO Garry Betty, overseeing the company’s day-to-day operations and
strategy, and solidifying its lead in the Internet access race. A long-
time friend of Charles Brewer, Mr. McQuary helped develop the concept
behind MindSpring and joined as Executive Vice President of Sales and
Marketing in 1995. From there, he became President and COO of
MindSpring, and under his leadership, the company grew from being a
small regional ISP to one of the nation’s leading ISPs with over a
million customers. Prior to joining MindSpring, he served in a variety
of sales, marketing, and operations management positions with Mobil
Chemical Co., a petrochemical division of Mobil Corporation. He started
his career selling paper cups for Lily-Tulip Inc. in Southern
California. Mr. McQuary received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from
the University of Virginia in 1981, and a Master’s of Business
Administration degree from Pepperdine University. In addition to the
EarthLink Board, Mr. McQuary also serves on the Boards of Novient Inc.,
MrArt.com, Showbuys.com, The Georgia Center for Advanced
Telecommunications Technology and the University of Virginia Alumni
Association.
