Laurent Lemaire

LAURENT LEMAIRE founded Cascades Inc. in Kingsey Falls with his brothers
Bernard and Alain in 1964, after having completed a Master’s degree in
Commerce at the Universit de Sherbrooke. He is now President and CEO.
In addition to his management functions in various subsidiaries of the
Cascades Group, Mr. Lemaire sits on the Boards of Directors of various
companies, one of which is the Scotia Bank. In his spare time, Mr.
Lemaire is an avid skier and is keenly interested in horseback riding.
He also has a passion for great wine and travel, but above all, for
people and his work. Considered a visionary with a practical sense, his
collaborators rely on his quiet strength and determination. They also
appreciate his flexibility and his know-how in various sectors. From its
modest beginning in an old mill, the group is now established in several
localities in Quebec, in many other provinces in Canada, in the United
States and in Europe. Nine thousand employees work for Cascades in some
75 units. Over the past 30 years, he, his brothers and other Cascades
employees have received numerous prizes and nominations. These prizes
underline both a lifetime of work and success by Cascades and its
employees.
