KAREN L. HEDINE is President/CEO and a member of the Board of Directors of
Micronics, Inc. She joined the company in 2001 to spearhead business development
efforts and became President three months later. Under her direction, Micronics
has evolved from a little known research and development company to a globally
recognized, revenue-generating products and services business with excellence.
Micronics’ clients include governments, Fortune 100 companies, leading academic
and national laboratories and cutting-edge startup ventures worldwide. Ms.
Hedine has over 20 years in the biotechnology industry, with international
expertise in technology transfer; strategic management of technocentric business
models; corporate finance; mergers and acquisitions; and overall corporate
operations. She has served in executive positions on behalf of three
international technology companies headquartered in Canada, England and Germany.
She has extensive licensing experience in Asia. Ms. Hedine has successfully
helped to finance and grow three US biotech companies in fields as diverse as
tissue repair, genomics/proteomics and microfluidics. She served as past Chair
person of the Washington State Biotechnology and Biomedical Association, for
which she serves currently as a member of the Board, and has consulted on behalf
of a number of West Coast biotech and other high tech development-stage
companies. She has been instrumental in incubating a number of technology-based
ventures in the US and Singapore. Ms. Hedine is a graduate of the University of
Washington where she studied languages before obtaining a Master/s degree in
Personnel Administration from Indiana University. She serves as an adviser to
several global health initiatives and is active in community affairs.
