JULIAN BLOGH is the Chief Executive of Ultra Electronics Holdings Plc. In 1965 he was awarded the degrees of BAI (Electronics) and BA (Russian) by Trinity College, Dublin. These were followed by MSc and then PhD degrees at Birmingham University. He then held engineering management positions at Ferranti, and at Plessey Radar. Dr Blogh joined the Dowty Group in 1984, and in 1992 on the formation of Dowty Avionics, was appointed its Managing Director. Following the acquisition of Dowty by the British TI Group in 1992, he left the company in April 1993 to lead a buy-in of the Dowty aerospace and defence electronic businesses. In October 1993 he became Chief Executive of the renamed Ultra Electronics Limited. In October 1996, Ultra Electronics Holdings Plc was successfully floated on the London Stock Exchange. In September 1997, he was selected as ‘Venturer of the Year’ by the British Venture Capital Association and the Financial Times, and in January 2001 was awarded the CBE.
